#Bermuda, October 29, 2022 – Premier of Bermuda, David Burt, offered congratulations to Rishi Sunak on being appointed as the United Kingdom’s new Prime Minister.   Sunak succeeded Liz Truss who served as Prime Minister for a little over 40 days.

Burt said he looks forward to working with Prime Minister Sunak in regard to Bermuda’s interests.

“I look forward to working with the new Prime Minister and his Ministers in Bermuda’s interests.  Next month’s Joint Ministerial Council will be the first opportunity to engage with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office teams since the change in Administration,” he said.

Cole Simmons, Leader of the Opposition, added that Mr. Sunak brings the “steady hand” that the country desperately needs.

Sunak makes history in the UK as the first person of colour and Asian to be appointed as Prime Minister.
