#TurksandCaicos, October 12, 2022 – Beaches Turks & Caicos spares no opportunity to celebrate its hard-working team.  International Housekeeping Week, recently provided yet another ideal opportunity to recognise the sterling efforts of the team that keeps the resort clean and safe.

As the world recognized the efforts of Houskeepers, Beaches Turks & Caicos held a series of activities that paid homage and awarded its dedicated housekeeping team, to foster greater camaraderie and rapport and to inspire and educate.  Some events allowed the team to simply relax and have fun with each other and others sought to develop healthy, sustainable work and life skills.

General Manager James McAnally commented, “We are fortunate to have a phenomenal housekeeping team, one that works night and day to ensure that our guests and wider team are comfortable and enjoy a clean environment. International Housekeeping Week at Beaches Turks & Caicos was a time when we shone the spotlight on them and highlighted the great work that they do.”

Starting the week with a prayer breakfast the team worshipped and gave thanks for continued provision and protection, then they had a towel fold off activity and then a bed making competition with the participants being blindfolded. A luncheon activity was held, and the team members were recognised and awarded for the service that they have given to the department while the Grace Bay Medical facility provided for a mental health and men’s health discussions.

The housekeeping team was also encouraged to lead healthy lifestyle.  The session on Mental Health, led by Dr. Joanna Bowden and Mental Health Practitioner Lanita Seymour, educated team members on the signs of mental health and how they and their family, friends and associates can receive the requisite help.

The forum on Men’s Health shared insights on health challenges that men may face and the medical treatment that men can receive.  The session facilitated by Dr. Sam Slattery was insightful and educational.

Team members had a grand time in the blind-folded bed-making competition and enjoyed themselves at the Beach Bash.

Amanda Daley, room attendant at Beaches Turks & Caicos, stated “Housekeeping Week was an exciting and fun week.  There were gifts and surprises and everyone enjoyed themselves.”

Daley said, “Everyone came together even more during this time.  I really appreciated it.”

The capstone of the week was the “Awesome Awards,” the departmental recognition ceremony in which members of the department received award for their top quality service.

Chad Gabbidon, Assistant Manager of Housekeeping Department, remarked, “We had a fantastic week honouring our shining stars.  We were able to celebrate two of our long-standing stars, Lucyann Rigby and Marie Prospere, who have worked with us for 27 and 29 years, respectively.  Both started as room attendants and have been promoted to supervisors within the department.”
