#UnitedKingdom, August 21, 2022 – Drought is expected to be declared in the United Kingdom this Friday August 12. This is after recording is hottest day ever just weeks ago. Currently England was declared to be in prolonged dry weather status according to the Environmental Agency (EA) earlier this year.

“Nowhere in England is currently considered to be ‘in drought’. However, recent abnormally high temperatures have exacerbated conditions,” The EA said.

Despite this the EA and water companies said they started the early steps of a drought plan to mitigate what is becoming more and more likely. That the UK, known for its rainy weather,  is now dry has raised eyebrows and captured global headlines.

If the drought is declared the EA says water or ‘hosepipe’ bans will start to lessen water use on frivolous things like washing cars.

England has been especially hard hit being in its driest summer for almost 90 years.

The EA will make the announcement on Friday.
