#TurksandCaicos, August 25, 2022 – After making history with their performance at the Commonwealth games, a downsized TCI delegation headed off to the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association Open Championships in The Bahamas with their winning spirit.

The men participated in the long jump, 4×100 metre relays and the 400 metre.  While they did not take home gold, Ifeanyichukwu Otuonye placed 6th in the long jump finals, as did the relay team which consisted of Aleiandio Durham, Angelo Garland, Ifeanyichukwu Otuonye, and Courtney Missick

The men ran a time of 41.91.

Angelo Garland contested the 400m and ended with the 9th fastest time in the heats but did not advance

Jamaican Shericka Jackson and The Bahamas’ Shaunae Miller-Uibo gave stellar performances from the Caribbean, but the US broke most of the records at the event.

The United States dominated the games with 66 medals including 31 golds, 21 silver, and 14 bronze medals.  Jamaica took the second spot in the medal tally.
