#USA, August 5, 2022 – The news of a Hershey’s candy shortage for Halloween broke twitter on Thursday when US media reported the candy giant might not have enough sweet treats for the candy centric European and North American holiday.

Hershey CEO Michele Buck had warned that, “We will not be able to fully meet consumer demand,” in a press conference about the second quarter earnings on July 28.

Hershey quickly backtracked after major news organizations picked up the story, reaching  out to TODAY Food to put the issue to rest, explaining that they made a decision to cut back on seasonal produce in spring because they are still experiencing increased demand and supply shortages.

“We will have even more seasonal products available to the consumer this year than last year. With that noted, we made the decision in the spring when we start making Halloween products to focus on everyday products to improve on-shelf availability.”

Hershey described and the shortage announcement as “not due to the reasons some outlets are reporting, but rather due to everyday and seasonal production occurring on the same lines and having to balance our everyday and seasonal portfolios.”

The company is doing so well that It has raised its profit outlook in the middle of the worst inflation in four decades and says it’s definitely on for Halloween.
