Beleaguered Landfill to get private management

#TurksandCaicos, July 25, 2022 – Solid Waste Management has had no dedicated manager since TCI Solid Waste was denied renewal back in October 2018. Now, Cabinet has agreed to approve a search for an integrated solid waste management contractor for the problematic Providenciales Landfill. 
The landfill has been plagued with constant fires, security breaches, noxious and nauseating odors, vector control issues, exponential use of the dump due to a surge in waste material as a result of the construction and tourism boom and likely saw its largest blaze erupt in the tire section of the dump on July 12.
Now, Government says it will publish an interim invitation to attract a company capable of giving better, full time management to the beleaguered facility.
Turks and Caicos Enviornmental Management was the previous manager of the Providenciales and Grand Turk landfills.
