#TurksandCaicos, June 6, 2022 – Covid-19 cases have been trending up for the Turks and Caicos Islands, even Salt Cay added a new positive result up to May 21st, which was the date of the last dashboard and situation report. Now, overnight news that the Turks and Caicos has moved from Level 2 to Level 3 risk rating by the CDC is concerning.
One of three Caribbean countries recently instated at the highest risk level, since the Level 4 is reserved now for special circumstances, said media reports.
Anguilla, Jamaica and Turks and Caicos have all charted more than 100 cases per 100,000 residents in the past 28 days.
Level 3 is however not a lonely spot, with countries like France, Italy, Greece, Dominican Republic and Cuba all there – however, it is not an desired spot either for any country which wants to remain an attractive travel option to Americans.
On the heels of being declared a Level 3 Covid-19 risk destination cases on the island have again risen.
For the month of May, the Turks and Caicos Islands has charted the highest number of cases since the removal of outdoor mask mandates on February 28th.
March and April had a combined total of 119 reported cases.
Indoor mask mandates dropped on May first, since then there have been 153 new cases of COVID on the islands.
The majority of cases were concentrated in the first two weeks of the month which accounted for 102 of the cases.
