#TheBahamas, May 27, 2022 – An increased  use  of  guns is one of the main reasons there is a  rise  of  crime  and  violence  in  some  Caribbean  countries. Firearms  are  involved  in  the  majority  of  homicides;  for The Bahamas, gun killing is at 82.4  percent, 73.4 percent in Jamaica and for Trinidad  and  Tobago, it is 72.6  percent and though Turks and Caicos is not listed, all but one murder for 2022 was not committed with a gun.

Reports also show that  the  use  of  knives  in  homicides  has been more or equally  as  common  in  Barbados  and  Suriname. Homicide  is  lower in these countries, however. robbery is quite prevalent, but guns are used about twice  as  often  in  robbery  and  three  times  as  often  in  assault  in  the  Caribbean.
