#TurksandCaicos, May 11, 2022 – The ongoing murder retrial of Cortez Simmons before justice Tanya Lobban Jackson was on Monday May 2 aborted and it took place because on Saturday April 30, Simmons was gunned down while at the gym and was pronounced dead on site.

In a bold act, Royal TCI Police informed that two gunman were seen fleeing the scene and 911 got the call at 10:34am that shots had been fired at a location off Leeward Highway; Simmons was said to regularly work out at the gym and the murder accused was out on a half a million dollars bail.

Cortez Simmons was in a judge only retrial for the 2013 murder of Keziah Burke.  Simmons was found guilty in the original case, but appealed and got a retrial.

That retrial was ongoing but was concluded.

Simmons is the sixth homicide for TCI in 2022.
