#TurksandCaicos, April 7, 2022 – The fifth murder for the year in the Turks and Caicos Islands was recorded on Tuesday April 6, and the shooting claimed the life of a young man said to be at his residence in Kew Town.  Gunned down in broad daylight; the Royal TCI Police confirmed in a statement issued Wednesday, the Control Room was contacted around 3:05 p.m. about the incident.

It took nearly 24-hours before police released a statement of three lines and four sentences about the bold act, which left a man dead, reportedly at his home “near the Dominican Bar.”

Images of the scene were unnerving to those speaking to our newsroom; resembling anything but an island paradise.

Residents continue to label the gun violence as “out of control.”

Officials agree, and with the support of the Government and the Turks and Caicos Islands Christian Council aimed to get some of the unregistered firepower off the streets; that amnesty which run the full month of March is believed to have brought in no weapons.  There remains no report on what it accomplished.

Police gave no identity or age of the victim.  No indication if the man was found dead in his home or elsewhere.  No information on a potential motive and no comment on the nature of the crime or condolences, which are usually expressed.
