#TurksandCaicos, April 15, 2022 – TCI emergency responders will get a boost soon in both equipment and training as West Midlands Ambulance, based in the UK, is apparently willing and interested in a relationship with the TCI.
“West Midlands Ambulance is keen to develop whatever relationship TCI wants with them. They are the only ambulance service in the UK where every ambulance has a paramedic on board and from next year they will be the only service running an in-house practical degree course that produces world-class paramedics,” said Nigel Dakin, Turks and Caicos Islands Governor.
Dakin explained the size and expertise of West Midlands Ambulance saying they had expertise in aircraft accidents, search and rescue, mass casualty events, hazardous materials accidents, operations in water and others.
Along with their expertise, the TCI first responders will receive 250 bleed kits.
“There’s a tourniquet a compression bandage a chest seal and a wound dressing infused with hemostatic chemical that quickly clots the blood I was taught in less than 30 minutes and if I can, anyone can.” explained the governor in the Instagram post.
The Governor did not say when the collaboration would take place only that long term relationships that build the TCI’s capacity was the ultimate goal.
