#TurksandCaicos, March 3, 2022 – TCI Aquatics Swim Club this week announced that three of its swimmers have qualified for the CARIFTA swim games.

Tajhari Williams, Mataeo Gardiner and Lenin Hamilton Jr attended the Milo Butler Blue Waves Invitational Swim meet in Nassau, Bahamas and pushed the TCI Aquatics to ninth place with 106 points.

Williams placed first in the High Point trophy in his age group despite swimming the butterfly and breaststroke for the first time.

Hamilton placed third overall for his age group and  all three boys made time improvements, clocking personal bests.

Coach of the Marlins, Lenin Hamilton Sr  said he is “incredibly proud” as the boys, who had no access to a pool for two weeks before the meet surpassed odds and now will advance to the much anticipated, premier regional swim meet this Easter.

The 2022 CARIFTA Swimming Championships is set for Wildey, Barbados once again.  The 2020 and 2021 editions of the regional event were canceled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

When the Games are held, April 16-20, 2022, it will be a first time appearance for the Williams, Hamilton and Gardiner.
