#USA, March 3, 2022 – In the span of four months since it was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for 5 to 11 year olds, the efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine on that age group has dropped to a shocking 12 percent forcing researchers to say it offers virtually no protection.

Research published Monday by health officials in New York State revealed the slashed efficiency numbers, confirming that the Pfizer vaccine gives hardly any protection against Covid-19 for the youngest people approved for the jabs.

When it was approved by the FDA in October the vaccine reportedly had a 90.7 per cent efficacy in preventing COVID-19 in children 5 through 11.

Five to 11 year olds are now only 12 percent protected from catching the coronavirus, down sharply due to the omicron variant.

It now has officials scrambling for a resolve as they fear a couple of things: increased vaccine resistance by parents already skeptical and insufficient protection for children who are immunocompromised and at risk.

The report in the New York Times yesterday informs that it was not a completely surprising development given the vaccine was created for an earlier strain of COVID; but they also believe the smaller dose sizes have a role to play in the low efficacy in this age group.

These findings also come on the heels of clinical trial results indicating that the vaccine fared poorly in children aged 2 to 4 years, who received an even smaller dose.

Pfizer has said they are working on a new vaccine for omicron but it is unclear when that vaccine would be ready and if children would even be allowed to take it.
