#Jamaica, March 29, 2022 – According to its tradition and constitution, Jamaica still sets up as its Head of State, the Queen of England but that state of being for the region’s largest English-speaking country is morphing.

In a shocking reveal, which threw Blue Mountain sized support behind Jamaican protestors who called for Apologies and Reparations, Andrew Holness, Jamaica’s Prime Minister forewarned of the stately shift at a courtesy call by Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge during his Caribbean Tour.

“Jamaica is a very free and liberal country and the people are very expressive and I’m certain you would have seen the spectrum of expressions yesterday.”

The conversation about breaking free of the Queen has been on a backburner, but the November 2021 severing of British ties executed by Barbados has been inspiring.  Led by Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, the country stepped fully out of the colonial shadows of the British to soak up the sun on its own, as the world’s newest Republic.

With promises that it was impending, especially as Jamaica will on August 6, 2022 celebrate 60 Years of Independence, the momentum has simmered and slowed; well that was at least until the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – last week – showed up on Jamaica’s doorstep.

The arrival of the Royals from March 22-24 was like petrol on smouldering embers; it fueled a new blaze and the fervor for complete freedom from the monarchy and swift recompense for the pain caused by Slavery and Colonialism, was fire hot fodder for the international press.

The world was watching and Prime Minister Holness took the right side.

From JIS News:  Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, says that Jamaica intends to attain and fulfil “its true ambitions as an independent, developed and prosperous country” in short order.         He was speaking with Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, during a courtesy call on the Prime Minister this morning (March 22).”

The pair, despite the protests and this startling announcement had a culturally enriching time in Jamaica; the experiences and progresses were a demonstration said the Prime Minister of Jamaica’s maturity over the 300 years of the monarchy and over the three score since its sovereignty.

“Jamaica is as you would see, a country that is very proud of our history and what we have achieved. We are moving on and we intend to attain in short order all our development goals and fulfill our true ambitions as an independent developed prosperous country,” said Holness, Prime Minister, as cameras captured the moment.

Their Royal Highnesses arrived in Jamaica on March 22 for a three-day official visit to the island as part of activities to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen. This year marks 70 years since the Queen’s ascension to the throne.
