#TurksandCaicos, March 17, 2022 – “Don’t run away from census workers!” That’s the plea from Minister of Physical Planning and Infrastructure Development Akierra Missick.

The Turks and Caicos Islands Census, which is coming in June 2022 will make available critical information as the government drafts the new Housing Policy, said Missick during the House of Assembly on Thursday March 10.

“I want to encourage people when the census starts please do not run away from the enumerators. They are not trying to get in your business.  This is really to collect data so that the government Years from now will be able to make the right decisions. So please work with the census people when they arrive at your respective location.”

A recently held consultation between stakeholders of the policy including lending institutions and contractors gave the government important information needed to proceed with the policy.

The policy was almost ready to be presented to Cabinet and brought out for public perusal Missick had said.

She emphasized though that the data from the 2022 National Census was critical to development and planning of the upcoming housing developments.
