BTVI was established in 1949 as the National Technical School and since then has become the premier post-secondary Technical and Vocational institution in the Bahamas offering programs like information technology, business, construction etc.

The objective of the visit Taylor said was to review the TVET program currently implemented in the Turks and Caicos.

“The objectives being to review the existing programs and share ideas for greater partnership In strengthening the number of TVET programs in alignment with the country’s needs,” explained Minister Taylor.

The first cohort of TVET students also completed their theory and practical examinations in February in collaboration with the heart trust of Jamaica.

But in a recent survey carried out by the government and aimed at the youth a major request was more TVET Programs on island.

This partnership with the BTVI will facilitate that by strengthening the number and caliber of TVET programs available in the TCI.
