#TurksandCaicos, February 16, 2022 – It was the placement of CCTV cameras at Liz’s  Bakery in Five Cays which enabled those who got the video to see precisely how terrifying it is when gun wielding thugs storm businesses; it has been happening in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos far too frequently.

At least three seemingly armed men arrive on the outside the bakery and even appear to release a shot that sends the men outside the building departing for cover.

One of the alleged suspects, dressed in black appears to pick up a high powered weapon and then enters the building.

Present in the store at the time of the robbery:  the cashier, who appears to be a teenager, a middle-aged woman and a woman accompanied by a child.

Only two of the assailants enter, immediately a gun is pointed at the teenager before they snatch her valuables from her hands.

The terrified customers throw themselves to the ground as the cashier is shoved aside and the thieves empty the cash register. At this time the woman and child are hidden in an aisle.

The man leave the frame of the camera and appear to step outside the store, however in moments they are back knocking the computer off of the cash register in what seems to be a search for more money.

Then, they look to be wiping away fingerprints with a piece of cardboard; demonstrating a premeditated ambush of the business on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Days since the crime, and Royal TCI Police have not released a statement regarding the incident.

The firepower, which is visible in the CCTV footage is further evidence of the problem of illegal guns in the islands.  Recently, a Gun Amnesty program was announced as soon to be launched for the Turks and Caicos Islands.
