#TurksandCaicos, February 9, 2022 – The Turks and Caicos Islands Government (TCIG) is adding $680 to the monthly allowance of adults benefiting from the social aid program, and that’s not the only increase coming.

“Foster care used to be $120 per week, we are now increasing that to $300 per week per child. Social aid has moved from $120 a month to $800 a month per adult, and now I am happy to say it will include $500 per month per child up to 3 children,” said Premier Washington Misick during a national update on February 2.

Parents of special needs children will also get some relief from the Government according to Misick who announced that special needs children were now eligible for home help.

“A lot of the time because of the special attention they require means parents are unable to work so it is only fair that they are also included in the home help program.”

The current monthly benefit for home help is $1,000; Premier Misick did not say if the benefits would be disseminated immediately.
