Massachusetts visitor shot in botched armed hold up in Providenciales parking lot

#TurksandCaicos, February 7, 2022 – The woman in her sixties who was ambushed by a lone gunman in a parking lot near a cluster of Grace Bay Beach located resorts has decided to pack up and leave the Turks and Caicos early; her holiday ending abruptly after the attack minutes to 9pm on Friday.

In an attempt to thwart the theft of the woman’s purse, a male in her party was shot in the upper body; the gun shot was more of a graze than a penetrating bullet.

Police got to the scene quickly but the damage, a traumatized group of travellers, was done.

The man who was shot is said to be from Massachusetts, USA.  Also in his 60s, he was treated at the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre on the night, released next day, Saturday in stable condition informed the TCI Hospitals.

“An elderly male was seen in the emergency department at the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre on Friday, February 4th, 2022 with a report of a gunshot wound to the upper body. The patient was treated and discharged on February 5th, 2022 from admission in stable condition.”

We are told the woman’s purse may have been saved, pulled out of nearby bushes but the trip to Turks and Caicos Islands is over for this lot and the reputation of the country is tainted following this ordeal.

The man will spend a few more days in the island in recovery, then almost a week early, he too will return home with his family.
