Haiti ranks worst, Barbados bounds best; CPI 2022 published

#TurksandCaicos, February 8, 2022 – The Corruption Perceptions Index 2022 is published now by Transparency International and reveals the least corrupt countries in the world are Denmark, Finland and New Zealand, all tied for No. 1.

When it comes to the Caribbean, at least 12 countries are included.

Haiti which comes in at 164th ranked; the worst for the region.

Jamaica falls roughly in the middle of the list, holding its 70th ranking; Barbados rocketed to 29th, in an overwhelmingly positive review of the republic; and The Bahamas jumped one place for 30th in the list of 180 countries.

No change was recorded for St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the 36th place; Dominica in 45th place; St Lucia in 42nd while Cuba dipped one point and was 64th, Dominican Republic had a better showing at 128th and Trinidad and Tobago improved to 82nd.

Of the 180 countries on the list Haiti was the lowest ranked Caribbean country the Republic of Barbados ranked highest at 29th close on their heels was the Bahamas at 30th.

Despite current troubles plaguing the Prime Minister, the UK which would include all of its overseas territories like the Turks and Caicos Islands, Cayman and British Virgin Islands (to name some), was in the Top 20 least corrupt, ranking at No 11 on the Index.
