#TurksandCaicos, February 15, 2022 – On the heels of an uptick in robberies, home invasions and firearm offenses the operational budget Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force has increased by $1.4 million as announced by Finance Minister and Deputy Premier E. Jay Saunders.

Saunders made the announcement in his ministerial statement on February 7, in the House of Assembly.

“Our government has agreed to increase the operating expenses of the Police Force to enhance intelligence gathering and investigation.”

That was not the only increase towards the domestic security within the islands Saunders said.

“The government has allocated funding for the TCI Regiment which will allow it to increase its reserve complement by 20 officers. We are also providing funding for 12 marine officers in the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force.”

A draft version of the bill authorizing the increase has been approved in Cabinet.
