#Trinidad&Tobago, February 25, 2022 – Only Days after reports came out of Trinidad and Tobago of the country recalling several baby food brands after the FDA launched an investigation, reports out of The Bahamas indicate that at least one toddler has become ill from the Similac formula.

The Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Health recalled the formulas Similac, Alimentum and Elecare, which are manufactured by Abbott Nutrition in the United States after the FDA reported that they are investigating reports which may have caused at least one infant’s death.

The FDA did not include Trinidad and Tobago in the advisory but after background checks by the government it was found that a limited quantity of the recalled items were in the T&T supply, resulting in the local recall.

Only days later, a baby in the Bahamas had to be rushed to hospital after being fed Similac.

Eyewitness News Bahamas reports the baby became ill and was admitted to hospital with bloody stool and severe dehydration.

The baby is receiving treatment and is doing better.

All parents are advised to discard the formulas if the first two digits of the code are 22 through 37; the code on the container contains K8, SH, or Z2, and the expiration date is 4-1-2022 (APR 2022) or later.
