#TurksandCaicos, February 16, 2022 – At least one potential investor interested in the island of Grand Turk is now skeptical because of the trend of arson that has plagued the island for decades. The most recent torching of an AirBnB in the West Road area may have wider reaching effects than anyone imagined.
The investor who has reportedly reached out to islanders via Facebook indicated interest in purchasing a business in Grand Turk and asked for local insight on what they described as the sensitive topic of the arsons in the area also adding, “we love the island and would love to help it grow but should we be concerned?”
Fires in the capital have affected government property, an iconic seaside business, historic homes, commercial businesses, jet skis, a brand new school building and the Victoria Public Library a national monument.
The post and question triggers a new level of concern as the government tries to grow the long-stay capacity of the island, in the Turks and Caicos Islands’ cruise hub.
