#TurksandCaicos, January 28, 2022 – More military training for the newly established TCI Regiment, and a bit of history being made as a young woman comprises the delegation now in the United Kingdom for the gold standard training.

The Turks and Caicos regiment is getting upgrades in more ways than one, in terms of personnel three Islanders of the Regiment have been selected  to attend the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

Governor Nigel Dakin made the announcement on Tuesday January 18.

Marines Earl F. Henry and Jahiem D. Glinton along with Officer Cadet Dixie Smith, the lone lady in the crew are gearing up to leave the TCI in the coming days to participate in what Governor Dakin described as “one of the best leadership courses in the world.”

“It’s is a tough course for any young man or a woman but for them having flown from the warmth of the Caribbean to the embrace a British winter there’s a little added spice (or should I say ice),” posted the Governor on his @governortci Instagram page.

In terms of equipment this year, the regiment is expected to get two fast boats, the beginnings of a motor vehicle fleet and a boost in numbers is also set to happen in conjunction with Bermuda.
