#TurksandCaicos, January 15, 2022 – Deputy Leader of the Opposition Robert Been alleges that the COVID numbers published by the Ministry of Health seem ‘off.’

In a recent press conference, held virtually, he said “the numbers being reported seem very questionable. Proper numbers need to be released by the end of the week.”

It did not take long, a few days later, the Turks and Caicos saw active cases rocket to almost three hundred more cases.

Been gave the ultimatum at a press conference held January 4, and described the PNP Administration’s approach to fighting the new coronavirus surge as “unwise” and made recommendations of his own, including returning to a curfew.

Been also called the decision to not test returning residents who have been vaccinated against Covid,  “madness” and recommended government to test those returning residents once they had returned home.

“Let us have tests for all returning residents – Vaccinated or not – who must test immediately upon arrival, and have results in a Rapid Antigen Test in a few minutes. It is madness – with the knowledge we have today about the virus and vaccine – not to have everyone tested entering our shores,” Been said

Been charged the government to take responsibility for the rise in cases and warned them not to run out of steam now saying, “Wake up and Serve.”
