Most TCI Hospitals Patients don’t even know they have COVID

#TurksandCaicos, January 19, 2022 – The majority of residents testing positive for Covid-19 are vaccinated, but un-boosted and are either asymptomatic or have mild symptoms, said the TCI Hospitals in response to Magnetic Media enquiries.

Due to the high community transmission rate of late, the majority of patients being admitted to hospital presenting originally for a different ailment and find out they have COVID only after mandatory screening or testing which is standard procedure at the Hospitals.

The majority of patients developing more serious complications from Covid-19 tend to be the people with two or more chronic medical conditions, confirmed Takara Bain, Public Relations and Marketing Manager / Patient Advocate at the TCI Hospitals.

In terms of treatment patients will continue to be administered the therapeutic Dexamethasone to treat Covid-19.

When quizzed about the possibility of the introduction of some of the recently approved treatments like the Pfizer pill which can be administered at home, TCI Hospitals said they were awaiting updates from Public Health England which should come in the first quarter of this year.
