#TheBahamas, January 28, 2022 – IHOP, an American multinational pancake house restaurant chain that specializes in breakfast foods will be opening its first store in the Bahamas. The announcement was made by Dine Brands International almost two weeks ago.

The restaurant is slated to open in late 2022 through an agreement with Bahamas Limited. It will also expand to three to four sites in New Providence within two to three years. Over the next few years, 16 IHOP restaurant openings will happen in the Caribbean. Also, Burton Rodgers, a Bahamian entrepreneur, said up to 130 local jobs will come due to the IHOP franchise.

In an article published by Tribune, Rodgers shared he had been pursuing IHOP for almost five years. He said the COVID-19 slowed the progress. The pandemic has also significantly affected restaurant-related businesses, but Rodgers is optimistic and seems excited about IHOP coming to the Bahamas.

“IHOP is iconic to Bahamians,” he said. He added that IHOP is a great family and late-night restaurant ideal for Bahamians. “We’re a tourism-based economy, which means we work shifts. We have people going out to work at midnight and getting off at 5 am, and they will be able to breakfast and dine when they get off. These are all reasons why the brand will do extremely well. It fits our daily lives,” Rodgers added.

He said Dining is and has to come back, and there is no better time to launch the region’s first IHOP.
