#Canada, January 28, 2022 – A parade of truckers who refer to themselves as the “freedom convoy” is heading toward Canada’s capital Ottawa in a protest against Covid-19 vaccine mandates for truck drivers who cross the border with America imposed by the Justin Trudeau run government.

A GoFundMe that was set up by leaders of the so called freedom convoy has made over 3.7 million dollars in support but the organization has frozen the funds until the truckers can prove how the Money will be spent.

The Canadian Trucking Alliance A federation representing truckers across Canada has condemned the protests; about 10 per cent of the truckers in Canada remain unvaccinated.

Additionally the cost of fruit and produce is expected to rise now that the US has followed Canada in implementing  their own vaccine mandate for truckers which ferry goods across the US/Canada border.

Canada’s vaccine mandate for truckers was imposed on January 15th the US imposed their rule on the 22nd . The new rules require US truckers to present proof of vaccination in order to cross the Canadian border and vice versa.

Mexican truckers must also be vaccinated to cross the US border.

Since then the cost of transporting fruit from California and Arizona to Canada climbed 25 per cent, according to George Pitsikoulis, the CEO of Canadawide Fruits, when speaking with Bloomberg news.

Food transport is already cut by about 50 per cent and this is sure to affect countries which depend on the United States for food especially produce.
