UPDATE ON DIVERTED FLIGHT
#TurksandCaicos, December 31, 2021 – We are aware of a flight diversion which transpired on Sunday the 26th of December 2021, where an American Airlines flight scheduled to arrive in Providenciales Turks and Caicos Islands was diverted to Miami, Florida from Dallas, Texas. 
A number of social media posts have painted an improper narrative stating that this was as a result of excessive flight arrivals and terminal passenger capacity. This information is incorrect.
The diversion was caused not on account of anything done by the Turks and Caicos Islands Airport Authority, the Air Traffic Control nor it being busy but rather, occurred as a result of issues between Air Traffic Control in Miami, Florida and the Airline.
At this time, we are unable to divulge any further details on this matter, but wish to assure the travelling public that the Ministry of Immigration and Border Services and the Airport Authority continue to provide as much as possible, a seamless and convenient travel experience for its passengers.
