#Philippines, December 31, 2021 – The Philippines are still reeling after the devastation of Typhoon Rai. So far, nearly 400 people have died, and many others have been displaced. According to CNN, whole villages have been destroyed by the typhoon.

A resident Jovelyn Paloma Sayson told the media house, “We need money to rebuild our house, we are not dreaming of a mansion. All we want to have is our own house to live in so that our children are safe.

Humanitarian aid workers reported concern about the spreading of diseases, including the COVID-19 virus, because of the close proximity of dislocated Filipinos. Hundreds of thousands of people are gathered in shelters.

Alvin Dumduma of the aid group Humanity and Inclusion told CNN.

“The conditions in evacuation centers are far from ideal, thousands are sleeping under one roof with no clean water…children aren’t going to school…they will be stuck this way for a long time.”

The United Nations has pledged over 100 million dollars in aid, but Filipinos are still projected to have a very rough time rebuilding everything they have lost.
