#TurksandCaicos, December 22, 2021 – The Turks and Caicos Islands Tourist Board, the exclusive tourism authority for the Turks and Caicos Islands, is pleased to announce that the destination has been named a winner in multiple categories of the 2021 edition of the prestigious Caribbean Travel Awards.
The Caribbean Travel Awards, which are in their eighth year, are hand-selected by the Caribbean Journal Editorial Staff to celebrate the people, places and properties that exemplified the best of this magnificent region.
The Turks and Caicos Islands is proud to be named a winner in the following categories:
Luxury Destination of the Year – The Turks and Caicos Islands is renowned for its luxury resorts and villas, pristine beaches, and world-class service, and this award further underscores this reputation. With the help of new high-end resort openings, the islands remain the leader of luxury in the region.
New Hotel of the Year, won by The Ritz-Carlton Turks & Caicos – Debuting this summer, the Caribbean’s newest Ritz-Carlton brought new energy, delicious culinary experiences, and a loyal tourist following to its location in the heart of Grace Bay Beach.
Caribbean Tourism Director of the Year, won by Pamela Ewing – During one of the most challenging years in Caribbean tourism history, Director of Tourism, Pamela Ewing, expertly led the Turks and Caicos Islands to historic levels of performance – solidifying the destination as one of the Caribbean’s most desired countries, while keeping the safety of both visitors and locals at the forefront.

Even amid unprecedented circumstances, Ewing, the Tourist Board, and its partners were able to achieve some of the highest visitor numbers in history, surging hotel rates and revenues, while ensuring safety remained the destination’s top priority.
Throughout 2021, tourism in the Turks and Caicos Islands has continued to flourish thanks to the Tourist Board’s strategic marketing and public relations plans, combined with its vigilant TCI Assured protocols and aggressive vaccine campaign, with over 78 per cent of the adult population vaccinated. Public relations efforts have resulted in nearly 1.5 billion media impressions and a corresponding media value of nearly $145 million in 2021.
