#Israel, December 31, 2021 – Israel has officially commenced the first stages of their 4th dose booster program.  The country recently announced its intent to offer 4th doses of the vaccine to people over 60.

Vaccines have been given to a small group of people in a new study on the efficacy of 4th doses by an Israeli hospital pending dissemination to the rest of the population.

If results are satisfactory Israeli persons over sixty years of age will be eligible for their fourth dose if more than four months have passed since the third dose.

CNN reports that Professor Galia Rahav told Israeli radio. “We don’t really have data yet on the level of immunity, like we did when we decided on the third dose, but on the other hand, there is really scary data out there in the rest of the world.”

In March this year Israel raced ahead of the rest of the world getting nearly half of their population vaccinated prompting studies centered around their vaccine program.

They were also one of the first countries to notice the waning efficacy of vaccines, when cases, hospitalisations and deaths soared during the summer.

The results of their study could change the way the world views boosters and their efficacy.
