#TurksandCaicos, December 15, 2021 –  The race is not for the swift but for those who can endure and it must certainly feel that way  for Mandy Dakin, wife of the Governor and her team Footsteps4Good team, who elected to go all the way around the islands covering an astounding 200 miles in under 13 days.

They’re still out there and still walking, kayaking, and cycling their way towards the finish line having now covered North and Middle Caicos; Fort George, Parrot and Little Water Cays; hiking across uninhabited expanses like East Caicos and being joined by dozens of eager supporters on the islands including in North Caicos, South Caicos, Grand Turk and Salt Cay.

An update on the participants’ health and whereabouts came from Governor Nigel Dakin via his Instagram page on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Mrs. Dakin and her team battled through a 39-mile row from Ambergris Cay to French Cay.

Before leaving Ambergris Cay, participants saw a nurse who helped patch them up to continue their journey.

Every step, by Footsteps4Good, is raising funds for charities in the Turks and Caicos Islands.  Participants donate $20, every penny of it is donated to the charity of choice.

On Thursday, Mandy & Co were ferried to West Caicos which will then allow them to row from there to Providenciales on Thursday landing in Sapodilla Bay around 11:30am.  There will be a brief welcome back to Provo, and she sets off again at noon to walk right back to the Children’s Park in the Bight where the entire thing started.  The walk from Sapodilla Bay to the Children’s Park is just over 7-miles and community participants are encouraged to walk along with the team, which includes route organizer, One TCI.

It will certainly be a triumphant return and an historic conclusion.
