#TurksandCaicos, December 21, 2021 – Flow TCI, in collaboration with Cable & Wireless Charitable Foundation (CWCF) and the Ministry of Education, has announced a partnership to bring increased connectivity and broadband access to the Ianthe Pratt Primary, C Hubert James Primary & Raymond Gardiner High for the new school year.
Joanne Missick, Country Manager, Flow Turks & Caicos, said: “This is the third presentation being made by the CWCF within the last three years as part of a larger disbursement to the Ministry of Education to further inspire learning and the advancement of education. In this phase the foundation has covered three schools; next year next CWCF will connect an additional five schools, bringing their total investment in education to over $150,000 since launching in 2017. Flow TCI has continuously contributed to the development of our young people through the provision of scholarships, FREE high speed internet services to public schools throughout the islands, and Information Communication and Technology (ICT) tools.”
Minister of Youth, Education, Employment and Library Services, Hon. Rachel Taylor said: “Through this donation, the connectivity in these schools will be upgraded to allow students and teachers in all classrooms to have internet access. This initiative is essential, as our teachers continue to incorporate virtual lessons and activities alongside face to face lessons. It will also provide teachers easy access to our online Education Management and Information System (EMIS) which they update daily. On behalf of the Ministry and Department of Education, I extend a hearty thank you to the Cable and Wireless Charitable Foundation and FLOW for their continued support to the development and enhancement of our education system over the years.”
The generous donation formed part of the Company’s 2021 Mission Week celebrations, which this year focused on providing an environment for e-learning and connectivity with the latest Fibre to the Home technology and key infrastructural upgrades to each school in alignment with the Ministry of Education’s goal to empower schools through technology.
Spearheaded by parent company, Liberty Latin America Ltd. Mission Week demonstrates the Company’s ongoing commitment to giving back to its communities and supporting digital access for more people across the region.
