#December 31, 2021 – The CARPHA Medical Microbiology Laboratory has and will remain open throughout the holiday period.  In a press release yesterday, CARPHA stated that it continues to receive and test samples for suspected COVID-19 and variant identification via genome sequencing for its Member States.

“Our dedicated staff continue to provide technical support, advice and the highest quality of

service to help inform decision-makers in its Member States,” said Executive Director, Dr Joy St. John.

She added that the continued opening is a result of the critical phase of the pandemic that we are in, where several variants have been detected in the Region.

CARPHA has also reported the detection of Omicron to Member States during the holiday period and has consistently provided weekly updates on its COVID-19 laboratory response.

On Tuesday, CARPHA shared COVID-19 Laboratory Dashboard No. 66 for Epidemiological Week #51. This reflects testing carried out from Sunday, Dec 19 to Saturday, December 25.
