Highlights from Joint Press Conference Health & Human Services + Physical Planning & Infrastructure

 

#TurksandCaicos, November 13, 2021 – New Health regulations in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic relaxed as of December 1 at 5am, until February 28.  Mask wearing, sanitizing and physical distancing remain in effect.

Cruise grant portal opens on Monday November 15 for businesses in the cruise industry of Grand Turk to access $1Million.  Cruising scheduled to resume on December 7 with the Carnival Mardi Gras. Assistance ranges from $3,500-$10,000 for qualifying applicants which includes Turks and Caicos citizens and British Overseas Territories Citizens.

Restrictions relaxed, curfew ends on December 1.  Churches and Funerals can host 80% occupancy. Restaurants, Bars and Nightclubs can host 80% occupancy and reporting requirements stopped as of December 1. Public and Private increased to up to 500 people; all gatherings of over 100 people still require permission from Ministry of Health & Human Services.

Taxi Service increased to carry 10 persons, maximum two families with health protocols including mask wearing observed in the vehicle.

Ban lifted on temporary work permits for artists/entertainers as of December 1.

Booster shots now available to all individuals who took their second shot of the coronavirus vaccine six months ago.

PNP Governmentt Administration has been engaged since August with Caribbean Development Bank, (CDB) which is providing Consultation on TCI challenges with sea defences.  Several reports are coming in a package of information from CDB including detailed designs and a shore management plan for Salt Cay and Grand Turk. The suite of information is to be presented in 12 months to TCIG.

House of Assembly convenes for a brief session on Monday November 15; this is where the Christmas Advance program to Civil Servants will be explained.

Premier Hon Washington Misick and Deputy Premier, Hon E Jay Saunders are out of country; attending the Joint Ministerial Council meeting in London.  Acting Premier and Minister of Finance is Hon Akierra Missick.

Fish Fry was announced as soon to return. Health & Tourism officials are still working on details, location and plans with all of the aforementioned information to be announced.
