TCI: Shocking, heartbreaking; Sonia Williams-Ewing hailed as Hospitality pioneer
#TurksandCaicos, July 15, 2021 – Still shocking to her family, her friends, her team at Ocean Clubs is the sudden passing of Sonia Ewing, a wife, mother and general manager of the resort property in Grace Bay.
Ewing was a TCICC graduate, and her resort remembers, she is one of the very first women of the Turks and Caicos to achieve general manager position.
For Sonia, it began at the front desk in 1999 said a statement from the resort; within a year she was supervisor, by 2009, Mrs. Ewing was the General Manager.
Sonia, said Ocean Clubs effusively shared her love of the hospitality industry “…returning guests sought her out for her warm spirit and generosity… her greatest joy was her family; her loving husband Jamal and her dearest son, Jamon.”
Wilbert Mason, Managing Director at Ocean Club resorts adds, “Sonia Williams Ewing truly embodied the philosophy of live, love, laugh and leave a lasting legacy. Her loss is a shock to us all and she will be greatly missed.”
Sonia Ewing passed away unexpectedly on July 7.
