TCI: Kordell Campbell-Forbes Appointed as Principal of the Louise Garland-Thomas High School

#TurksandCaicos, July 22, 2021 – The Office of the Deputy Governor is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Kordell Campbell-Forbes to the post of Principal of the Louise Garland-Thomas High School.

Mrs. Campbell-Forbes hails from Sandy Point, North Caicos. She joined the public service on August 21, 2006 as a Secondary School Teacher of English and Literature.

Her passion for teaching and learning afforded her the privilege of working at the Helena Jones Robinson High School, The Clement Howell High School and the Louise Garland Thomas High School formerly the Long Bay High School.

She attained her Associate’s Degree at the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College, her Bachelor’s in Education from The College of the Bahamas and a Masters in Educational Administration with distinction from the University of the West Indies Mona.

She is currently engaged in online studies at the University of Suffolk in the United Kingdom; is one of the local trainers for the Effective School Framework /Child Friendly Schools in the Turks and Caicos Islands and has represented the country at training sessions in Bridgetown Grenada and has conducted training locally.

Commenting on Mrs. Campbell-Forbes appointment, Deputy Governor and Head of the Public Service Her Excellency Anya Williams said:

“On behalf of the public service of the Turks and Caicos Islands I wish to formally congratulate Mrs. Kordell Campbell-Forbes on her appointment as the Principal of the Louise Garland-Thomas High School.

Kordell has dedicated 15 years of service to the field of education in these islands and is a dedicated worker who is committed to the field of education, to learning and to the youth of these islands.

She has been a part of the leadership of the L.G.T.H.S. since its inception just a few short years ago and is fully committed to helping the school and its students to maximize on its true potential.

I wish Kordell and the Louise Garland-Thomas High School for which she is now officially responsible, continued success in the future.”

In speaking about her appointment Mrs. Campbell-Forbes said:

“I am indeed honored and humbled to be found worthy of leading in one of our premier secondary public institutions.

I am grateful for the professional learning experiences that I have gained since my introduction to school leadership in 2016.

I am blessed to be serving in the public service for the past fifteen years and am thankful to the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Anya Williams tasked with responsibility of the public service, the Ministry of Education and by extension the Department of Education for the confidence entrusted to me.

I will endeavor with the help of God to conduct myself and to execute my duties with the highest standards as a public service officer.

I remain committed to the core values and good governance of the institution that I am charged to lead and reaffirm my commitment to SHINE in in my service to God and my fellowman, helping with integrity, noble always enduring the race.

I wish to thank my family for their unwavering support and prayers and my school family as well as I embark on this new journey.”
