TCI: Davonne Morris NEW Contracts Coordinator in the Ministry of Physical Planning and Infrastructure Development

#TurksandCaicos, July 26, 2021 – The Office of the Deputy Governor is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Davonne Morris to the post of Contracts Coordinator within the Ministry of Physical Planning and Infrastructure Development.

Ms. Morris initially joined the Turks Caicos Civil Service in 2014 as a Scholarship Officer within the Ministry of Education before being awarded a scholarship in 2016 to pursue Law at the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom.
In December 2018 Ms. Morris completed a Bachelors of Law Upper Second Class and subsequently enrolled at the University of Law Birmingham where she completed a Master’s of Law in Professional Legal Practice.

In May 2021 Ms. Morris was called to the Turks and Caicos Island Bar to Practice as an Attorney within the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Commenting on her employment Ms. Morris stated: “Law plays a vital part in the day to day activities of this role as well as it is crucial to the affairs of the country. I am confident that the knowledge gained during my studies will help me to serve the Ministry and the Country to the best of my abilities and I am grateful for the continued support of my colleagues throughout the public sector.”

Deputy Governor and Head of the Public Service Her Excellency Anya Williams said: “We were happy as well to have facilitated Ms. Morris in service training at the Turks and Caicos Islands Attorney General’s Chambers as a requirement for the TCI Bar.

The Contracts Coordinator in the Ministry of Physical Planning, Infrastructure and Development is responsible for assisting the Ministry and Public Works Department in the proper management of its contracts by ensuring that all public works projects, tenders, contracts, contractors and consultants meet the required government legal, financial and audit regulations, which is extremely important.

I wish Ms. Morris well in her new role and look forward to working with her as the Ministry works to progress a number of projects across the Turks and Caicos Islands.”
