UN Resident Coordinator, Dr. Garry Conille, Makes Site Visit at the Detention Centre

#TheBahamas, June 1, 2021 – A delegation, led by United Nations Resident Coordinator, Dr. Garry Conille, paid a visit to the Detention Center for a tour of the facilities, May 28, 2021.  The delegation included, Senior Human Rights Advisor, George Abualzulof; Development Coordination Officer, UN Communications, Jomain McKenzie; Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Sharon Brennen Haylock; Personnel of the Office of the Attorney General; Senior Executive Officer (MOFA Protocol) Ivan Thompson; and Personnel of the Department of Immigration.

Dr. Conille said that the visit was part of an ongoing process between the United Nations and The Bahamas to assist in various issues such as human rights discussions, economic recovery, climate change and safety and security for humankind.  The team will travel to Abaco on Saturday, May 29.
