TCI: Portfolio Renamed and Expanded for Rachel Taylor

#TurksandCaicos, May 5, 2021 – The formerly titled, Turks and Caicos Ministry of Education, Youth, Culture, Social and Library Services has been rebranded to the new “Ministry of Education, Labor, and Employment” following key TCI government ministerial updates. 

While giving her ministerial statement in the House of the People as the Minister for Education, Labor and Employment, Rachel Taylor explained in brief how the ministry she heads will work to strengthen education, science, and innovation among the students. 

“During my visit at the science debate on Monday, I encouraged our students, informing them that this government will continue to support and motivate them at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels to the opportunities and benefits of pursuing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics…and the related careers,” said Hon. Taylor. 

Earlier, the Minister saluted the event and encouraged the schools to forge relationships with industry experts to encourage students in their academic and career goals .

Also, the Hon. Taylor congratulated the Deputy Governor and the Minister of Health for the intensified vaccination drive in the ED9District to fight against the novel Coronavirus. In the line of her duty as the Minister of Education, Labor, and Employment, Hon. Taylor pledged to do her best in resource allocation and other initiatives.

“I’m proud to stand here today as the Minister responsible for Education, Labor, and Employment. And for this, I give God thanks and honor. I’m always committed to do my best and to always use this medium to keep the people of these Islands informed and updated on the initiatives of my portfolio,” said Taylor in relation to her portfolio.  

“Our government’s Citizens’ Contract emphasizes clearly that education, employment, youth, and sports development are key priority areas. As this is the case, it is my intention to do my best to ensure these areas receive the resources they deserve and that opportunities are created for them to develop their talents, skills, and identity,” she added. 

Hon. Taylor also assured her ministry is working robustly to ensure equitable education to all children. She pledged to guarantee that all students learn well despite the blended learning approach. 

Additionally, Hon. Taylor in addressing the House of Assembly, pledged to work as a team to revolutionize labor, sports and employment sectors while prioritizing Turks and Caicos Islands citizens, even during the ongoing pandemic.
