TCI: Conflict of Interest Engagement with House of Assembly Members by the Integrity Commission

#TurksandCaicos, May 24, 2021 – Thursday, 13th May 2021 saw another engaging discussion between the Integrity Commission and the House of Assembly (HOA) members at “The Palms, Messel Ballroom”. The engagement explored, the role and function of the Integrity Commission, reviewed the Seven Principles of Public Life, as well as the Guide to identifying, avoiding and managing Conflict of Interests respectively, as set out in Appendices A and B to the Code of Conduct. This engagement facilitated an open and practical discussion, with questions and feedback from the thirteen (13) HOA members present.

Members of the House of Assembly present were: Hon. Speaker of the House, Hon. Gordon Burton, Deputy Premier Erwin J. Saunders, Hon. Rachel Taylor, Hon. Jamel Robinson, Hon. Samuel Been, Hon. Matthew Stubbs, Hon. Randy Howell, Hon. Kyle Knowles, Hon. John Malcolm, Hon. Shan Malcolm, Hon. Alvin Garland, Hon. Willlin Belliard, and Hon. Harold Charles.

Integrity Commission Staff present were: Commissioner Canon Mark Kendal, Director Paul Martin, Deputy Director Richard Been, Senior Compliance Officer Crystal Almonte, IT Specialist/Security Manager Jovan Flemming, and Public Education Officer Imterniza McCartney.

Respectful feedback was well received during the engagement, and all had an informative and enlightening session.

The Integrity Commission wishes to thank the House of Assembly members for keeping their commitment of their time to discuss and review Conflict of Interest. The Commission looks forward to the application of the knowledge garnered as they serve the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands with integrity, honesty and good faith in public life.
