#TurksandCaicos, May 5, 2021 – One day after the new government announced that at least $21 million dollars would be devoted to enhancing communities and living spaces across the country through beach land purchases and poverty alleviation program came a feel good moment which most the country can say it’s had a hand in. The official handover, opening and dedication of the SNAP Centre’s playground was held on Tuesday May 5, 2021.

The playground was specially designed, constructed and funded through Graceway Communities and its staying blue tokens. Tokens were earned by customers when they presented re-usable shopping bags at check out. With the tokens, shoppers voted and clearly a favourite, was the special needs center located in Kew Town, Providenciales.

Now the thirteen children can play basketball, climb, enjoy the merry-go-round fun, slides, jungle gym, swings and a three-lane asphalt running track with the investment of Graceway Supermarkets through its philanthropic arm.

Attending the handover were: HE Anya Williams, Deputy Governor Anya; Hon E. Jay Saunders, Minister responsible for SNAP in the Health portfolio; Hon Rachel Taylor, Minister of Education & Youth and the member of parliament for the district, Hon Sammy Been.

Deacon of St Monica’s Anglican Church blessed the grounds and the ribbon was cut unleashing happy children in a happy and safe recreational space.

Graceway Communities persevered through the delays precipitated in the Coronavirus Pandemic for a project which stands to be a model for the Turks and Caicos.

The SNAP Centre playground is the first community investment of Graceway Communities; with more programs having already benefitted from the Staying Blue Tokens, a conservation initiative.
