TCI: A Jury Found Jumillo Isma Guilty of The March 2020 Deadly Shooting

#TurksandCaicos, April 27, 2021 – On Tuesday, April 20 2021, Jumillo Isma was found Guilty of Murder in the Grand Turk Supreme Court for the death of 22-year-old Godly Petiote on March 11, 2020, along Cherokee Road Providenciales. The facts are that on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, around 11:30 a.m., reports to the Police Control Room were that a man received multiple gunshot wounds and was en route to the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre in a private vehicle; however, he succumbed to his injuries.

The Serious Crimes Unit and The Forensic Support Unit immediately launched a murder investigation to establish who was responsible for this tragic shooting. Excellent investigative and forensic work led to the arrest of 23-year-old Jumillo Isma of Five Cays Providenciales on Saturday, March 14, 2020.

Isma was later charged for Murder, Carrying Firearm, Carrying Ammunition, Discharging Firearm, and Discharging Ammunition in connection with the death of Godley Petiote and remanded.

“While we are grateful that justice has been delivered in this incident, our thoughts and prayers go to the family and friends of Godly Petiote, whose life was unjustifiably taken at a very young age. I want to thank the investigating officers from the Serious Crimes Unit and the Forensic Support Unit for the excellent work in bringing justice to the Petiote’s family. I would also like to thank the supporting team from the Response and Operations who responded to the scene”, said Superintendent Lisa Mitcheson, Head of Crime and Public Protection.
