Flow TCI Announces US $3M Investment in Network Upgrades & Fiber to The Home Expansion

#TurksandCaicos, April 24, 2021 – Flow TCI, announced plans to invest a total of US$3m to support the expansion of its fibre to the home (FTTH) network footprint in Providenciales and South Caicos, and to complete its tower upgrade project that will provide increased broadband speeds and mobile coverage across the islands. The upgrade is also expected to exponentially increase capacity across the company’s core network.

Flow TCI Country Manager, Joanne Missick stated: “This investment demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that our customers receive the best broadband experience in the Turks and Caicos and that we are the network that customers can always count on to get value for their money. By the end of this year, we expect to deploy next generation FTTH technology to over 4000 homes.”

Since the Company’s previous update in March, marking the beginning of the second phase of the rollout of FTTH, the following areas are now 100% ready to receive fibre installations: Glass Shack, Leeward Palms, and, Long Bay South (Shipyard).

These plans and more were highlighted during a recent meeting with Flow’s leadership team and the newly appointed Minister of Home Affairs, Public Utilities and Transportation, Hon. Otis Morris, and his leadership team, which included Permanent Secretary, Ms. Althea Malcolm-Been and Deputy PS, Ms. Michelle Gardiner, and representatives of the Regulatory Office.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Public Utilities and Transportation, Ms Althea Malcolm-Been commenting on behalf of the Minister stated: “I would like to again extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Ms. Missick and her entire team for meeting with the Minister and Management teams of the Ministry and Telecommunications Commission. We renew our commitment to working with the team at Flow to ensure that the people of the TCI can enjoy a sustainable and resilient network and to building on the foundations of partnership that we currently enjoy.”

Director General, TCI Telecommunications Commission, Mr. Kenva Williams added: “It was a pleasure meeting Flow’s management team and I’d like to wish Flow success in all its scheduled initiatives. The Commission is always ready and available to assist however possible to ensure quality services are delivered to customers.”

A subsequent update will be provided in May to mark Phase 3 of the FTTH rollout, which will include the island of South Caicos.
