CDC eases requirements but still advises Americans to hold off on travel

#TurksandCaicos, April 3, 2021 – Fourteen days after your final dose of the Covid-19 vaccines, whichever brand of it you take, you are considered fully vaccinated by the US Centers for Disease Control and this becomes important for anyone travelling as now these people will experience relaxed requirements for travel. 

Among other things the fully vaccinated American resident is free to travel, no longer encumbered by the rule to only take essential trips. 

The fully vaccinated person will also be able to bypass mandatory quarantines upon return from their trips, but will still have to present negative Covid-19 test results in order to enter in the case of international travellers and are recommended to be tested five days after return from travel. 

Though the changes announced on Friday soften stringencies to travel due to the coronavirus and its emergent variants, they still maintain protocols because having taken the vaccine does not exempt one from contracting COVID, or spreading it. 

News reports continue to surface about individuals who have been inoculated but are still sickened and hospitalised due to the coronavirus.  

The CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, in a video statement  is clear, that while travel liberties will be increased for those who have been fully vaccinated, they in no way will exempt American residents and international visitors from abandoning public health guidelines designed to keep themselves and others safe. 

The CDC is also still advising that Americans should not travel due to the rising number of coronavirus cases.
