#TurksandCaicos, March 15, 2021 – It has been nearly three weeks since Turks and Caicos’ new daily COVID infections have surpassed the 20 case mark, but over the weekend there was a spike of 28 new cases; six of which were in the country’s fishing capital – South Caicos.
The
Ministry of Health’s Dashboard of Saturday March 13 revealed, 15 new infections
in Providenciales, seven in Grand Turk and one person admitted to hospital for
a total of seven people now hospitalised.
The
National Public Health Laboratory performed 190 tests; the 162 negatives meant
there was 15 percent of samples returned with a positive for the virus.
Down
considerably, but still significant are the 503 people are in quarantine or
isolation in the TCI.
Meanwhile,
Covid-19 vaccinations continue for the territory, with Cabinet informing last
week that under consideration is use of the Mobile Clinic and door to door
vaccinations to expand the program.
On
Wednesday, Premier Hon Washington Misick got his first jab of the
Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine.
“Do it for your own safety, the
safety of your friends and family; for the safety of our country and for the
TCI economy,” said Premier Washington Misick.
