TCI: Police News: Armed Robberies, Shots Fired, Arrests & Remands

Turks and Caicos police were almost simultaneously responding to three different armed robberies on Tuesday March 9; two in Providenciales and one in Grand Turk. 

All involved men with guns robbing the unsuspecting of all they could: cash, cell phones, even cigarette wrapping paper. 

The earliest was at a convenience store on Bay Road Blue Hills at 7:06pm… the next was on Millennium Highway, also Blue Hills at 7:14 pm and the third was at 7:16pm in Grand Turk at a South Backsalina convenience store. 

No shots were fired, no one was injured in any of the armed robberies said Police.

Suspects Arrested & Remanded

Brandon Rahming was arrested for carrying ammunition and drugs and will return to court for a sufficiency hearing in May,  while Myrohn Pereira, a murder accused in the case of Mathew Florez who was gunned down at the Beaches round-a-bout in 2020 is now remanded for breaching bail conditions.

Police also reported, Avardo Peon is charged with a February 18th burglary in Kew Town, he got $5000 bail after his not guilty plea and will return to court on April 1st and Rossney Altidor, who is 19-years old remains in police custody as the key suspect after a February 25 robbery in Kew Town. 

The Police Commissioner, Trevor Botting commented that the young men are responsible for causing misery and distress to the victims and their families and the arrests, charges and remand are the result of tireless work by the CID and the Serious Crimes Investigation Unit of the Force.
