TCI: Covid Testing Rate improving
#TurksandCaicos, March 17, 2021 – During the Press Conference held Monday evening by the Minister of Health and Deputy Premier E Jay Saunders… the nation heard the Covid 19 testing rate has gone from 30 percent two weeks ago to 19 percent to date.
The Ministry of Health through the National Public Health Lab is on a mission to get to three percent of tests performed showing positives for Covid 19… that three percent, with lower covid 19 new case rate is what the CDC requires to take Turks and Caicos off the high risk list for travellers.
Saunders said there is no lobbying by TCI Government to be removed; the strategy is to first aim to comply with what our neighbours north want. That is however proving a challenge as Turks and Caicos residents are not coming out to be tested in large enough numbers even though capacity for testing has been ramped up.
