COVID Surge in South Caicos as Vaccination Day announced for TCI

#TurksandCaicos, March 25, 2021 – South Caicos is surging in new cases of the coronavirus and Middle & North Caicos are back on the dashboard. 

TCI is down to 109 people with Covid 19 now but up by two are hospitalisation; now three patients are in hospital. 

Most concerning is the rate of and spike in infection for the Big South; 17 people are positive for COVID on the island.  In North two, in Middle one. 

These are very, very small populations, however while new infections are comparably miniscule, if the current trend continues, it could spell trouble for these out island communities which are furthest away from hospital care.  

PCR testing rate is at 51 percent, says the Ministry of Health, who also on Thursday declared Friday March 26 as Vaccination Day. 

Friday – tomorrow – is Vaccination Day in the Turks and Caicos Islands. 

Ahead of a third batch of gifted Covid-19 vaccines from the UK, expected to be landed before the end of the month, there is a mighty thrust to get more indigenous people and more residents vaccinated.

Sites were named as: Family Care Medical, Omni Care, Grace Bay Medical, Associated Medical and Carolina Medical Clinic will all be open for Walk-Ins in Providenciales.  Supporting those efforts will be the Government’s mobile clinic and primary health care with jabs in Providenciales. 

In Grand Turk, vaccines will take place at Primary Health Care.
